When Dominic (not his real name) first came to see me in Gillingham, Kent, he described himself as shy and lacking confidence. On the surface, his life was going well. He had a good job, a loving family, and plenty of reasons to feel secure. But inside, he felt held back.

Dominic explained that his shyness showed up most clearly at work. He dreaded presentations, avoided speaking up in meetings, and found it difficult to connect with new colleagues. Socially, he struggled to make new friends, often worrying about how others might see him.

What struck him most was how long he had been experiencing this. He told me he felt it had been with him since childhood, though he couldn’t pinpoint exactly why. What he did know was that it was affecting his life now, and he was ready to do something about it.

The Process of Hypnoanalysis

Through hypnoanalysis, Dominic was able to revisit earlier memories that had shaped his beliefs about himself. Hypnosis allowed him to enter a relaxed, focused state where these experiences could be explored again with perspective.

What emerged were moments from his past that, as a child, he had interpreted in ways that left him feeling unworthy, hesitant, and small. As an adult, he could now see those situations differently. Through hypnoanalysis, he was able to re-evaluate the “life lessons” he had accepted and recognise that some of them were no longer true.

The Outcome

By the end of his therapy, Dominic described feeling as though a burden had been lifted. He said he felt lighter, more at ease within himself, and freer to step into situations that once left him anxious. The shyness that had shadowed him for decades no longer held the same power.

What is Hypnoanalysis?

Hypnoanalysis is a therapeutic process that uses regression under hypnosis to revisit memories from our early past. These are often the times when we first formed beliefs about who we are and how the world works.

How Hypnoanalysis Helps

By revisiting those moments, we can:

  • Review and reframe the beliefs we created as children.

  • Release trapped emotions that may have been carried for years.

  • Let go of patterns of behaviour or self-doubt that no longer serve us.

Working in hypnosis allows these deeper areas of the mind to be accessed more efficiently, helping lasting change to take root.

Moving Forward

Dominic’s story is just one example of how old patterns can be reshaped. His courage to seek help allowed him to find new confidence and a calmer relationship with himself.

If you’ve been living with patterns, beliefs, or feelings that no longer serve you, know that you don’t have to stay stuck. Change is possible, and support is available.
